In 1982, the founders of what
would become New Covenant Christian School made a covenant with each
other and with God to start a school built on the lordship of Jesus
Christ and the principles of Holy Scripture.
New
Covenant Christian School was incorporated in 1983 as a
nondenominational, Christian elementary school. Shortly thereafter, the
Commonwealth of Massachusetts recognized it as a tax-exempt, nonprofit
organization. The School began operation in September 1985 with classes
for kindergarten through grade four. Grades five and six were added in
subsequent years.
In
1997, a full Middle School program was begun for grades six through
eight. The Lower School campus was housed in Ashland (Federated Church
of Ashland) and the Middle School campus in Framingham (Vineyard
Christian Fellowship, Metrowest).
In
2002, the School began leasing the former Bigelow Elementary School
building from the City of Marlborough. The new facility contains 19
classrooms, 4 offices, gymnasium and cafeteria. The property adjoins a
public park with soccer field, baseball diamond, tennis and basketball
courts, playground and pool.
In
2003, a preschool program was started in the former Margaret Davitt
Center on Edgell Road in Framingham.
NCCS celebrated its 20th anniversary of educating students in 2005.
